Strawbery Banke Museum is located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It is a not-for-profit educational organization supported by admissions, sales, contributions, and memberships. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Thirty-two buildings at Strawbery Banke are on their original sites. Four were moved there to save them from demolition. Research and archaeology provide an historical background for the restorations. Additional research into the lives of former residents continues the story and provides the basis for interpretation.
Each year for the past thirty-two years
Strawbery Banke Museum has welcomed visitors to their Candlelight Stroll in
December.
On their website, Strawbery Banke describes
the Candlelight Stroll in these words:
Stroll through life in a simpler time as 350 years of American history, winter traditions, and holiday celebrations unfolds around you in New Hampshire's oldest waterfront neighborhood.
